POLYTECH ADVANTAGE In conventional screw type grit washers, the principal areas of wear are the lower submerged bearing of the screw and the edges of the screw blades. Reconstruction of these components usually requires the removal of the screw and shipment to a machine shop who can resurface the lower bearing shaft and rehardface the screw. After welding on the new hardfacing material, the screw must then be ground to return it to its original diameter. Lastly, the bearing assembly usually must be completely replaced along with the bearing seals. Superior Design, Technically Advanced Materials The chain is driven by a pair of large diameter Polychem C-6 cast nylon sprockets which have an excellent record of life in wastewater service. By using large diameter sprockets, it is possible to locate the bearings for these sprockets completely above the water in easy to access greaseable bearing housings. The sprockets are driven by gear and a motor (A variable speed Variator is optional). The other wear areas are the base of of the trough. With this design an optional replaceable UHMW liner is available for the trough and lower side walls. Optional If odor control is needed, an optional 304 stainless steel cover is available. The discharge chute can also be fitted with a neoprene cover which can be sealed to the receiving hopper. The assembly can also be fitted with a high performance grit cyclone with replaceable "Hycar" liners. |
